Drupal: Enabling and Disabling Modules and Changing Themes Using the Database
When testing new themes and modules, or performing upgrades in Drupal, problems can occur where your site is inaccessible or difficult to view via the GUI. Or perhaps it's just more convenient to make a change via the database! This series of articles contains a few tips on how to effect changes to your Drupal site directly via the database.
As usual, before doing any database manipulation, BACKUP YOUR DATABASE! This is easy to do, and any tool that you use to access the database can also backup the database. In your haste to get your site back online, it's very easy to make a mistake that changes or deletes the wrong record(s). If your site is already in trouble (and you haven't already done so) it's time to do a backup before things get worse!
